Tell us about yourself.
I am a DONA International certified birth Doula with passion for assisting woman to find the strength to have a positive birth experience. I will be your strength and comfort in the delivery room as you enjoy this life changing experience. I am also certified to teach Prenatal Childbirth Education Classes.
I also have learned over the years the importance of supporting a new mom in the postpartum period. I am a ProDoula Postpartum and Infant Care Postpartum Doula.
What does a Birth Doula do?
Whether beginning or expanding your family, each birth brings together a unique set of hopes, anxieties and dreams that a Doula works with you to ensure come true. I will provide a loving and supportive source of care that will assist you and your partner as you welcome your child to the world!
What Does a Postpartum Doula Do?
As a Postpartum and Infant Care Doula, I nurture the mother! I support a new family's transition to life at home. I strive to ease the burdens of daily life so that you can enjoy and bond with your baby! I will provide loving and supportive care at this exciting (and sometimes exhausting!) time for you and your family.
Having unconditional support, like that provided by a Postpartum and Infant Care Doula can:
~Help reduce Postpartum Mood Disorders
~Improve Breastfeeding success
~Improve Bonding
~Help older siblings transition and accept the new baby
What is the biggest misconception about Doulas?
I think the biggest misconception about Doulas is that we only attend home births. All of the births that I attend are in local hospitals. I have great relationships with OB, Midwives and Labor and Delivery nurses. I have even been invited into a unit to explain the benefits of a Doula. Many times, I leave a Birth hugging the care providers!
